Watch out London....

Its been quite a while since my last post, but I've been extremely busy with finishing my first semester of 3rd year. It was tough due to the fact that it involved two of my fears: maths and public speaking, but I think I done relatively well, so.. YEY!

Semester two begins at the start of February and I, like the majority of my uni peeps, are going on placement as part of our course.. and it just so happens to be in my favourite City, London (does a little happy dance). I will be down there for 9 weeks, carrying out my internship over 7 weeks, which hopefully will also give me the chance to do some exploring.

I will be interning for a fashion wholesaling agency called Place Rouge, which is situated in Notting Hill. Its an exciting and unique business and I am looking forward to working within the PR department, as it looks like ill learn a lot. I'll be doing all sorts of crazy things like being in charge of the sales diary, writing press releases and arranging meetings with buyers and other clients as well as hopefully being involved in London fashion week.. yes, FASHION WEEK.

It's all extremely exciting and scary all at once. If you know me, you'll know how much of a dream living in London and working in the fashion industry is to me, so its all a bit mad. but I cant wait to get going.

I will be living with three of my favourite and most fashionable people in zee world, in student accommodation near to Bethnal Green. Those beautiful people include fellow bloggers: Chloe (http://fashionmakesmepoor.blogspot.co.uk/), Ailish (http://ailishsmith.blogspot.co.uk/) and Kirsty (http://littlefashionfeather.blogspot.co.uk/).

Being fashion daft, I've absolutely loved planning different outfits for the internship itself. The dress-code is 'Smart/Casual' and all back when we are dealing with clients, so I'll have a lot of different Work OOTD's to upload over the 7 weeks.

I plan to blog a lot while I'm down in London purely because I now have the weekends free, which I haven't since I got my first job four years ago (the joys of retail). Also because I'll be busy which will hopefully mean that I'll have a lot to blog about. It will also be beneficial as it will help with the coursework that I have to do on my internship, which consists of a 2,500 word report (thrilled).

So yeah, watch out for future posts which should be on a relatively regular basis and I will see all of your beautiful Scottish faces in approximately 9 weeks, wish me luck!

Foundation Crisis.

I know its been a long long time since my last post.... (3 months)

Oops.

I have absolutely no excuse, I've just been a bit lazy... and had a bit of bloggers block.
I had a few blog ideas over Christmas that I tried to write.. but nothing that I was happy enough with to post.

Now, If you know me personally, you'll know that I swear by Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation. I have used it for the past five years since I hit the hormones and developed quite a bad case of acne. Double Wear was the only foundation that not only covered my acne, but completely evened out my reddish, uneven skin-tone.

I loved Double wear because they had a variety of different shades and with me being extremely pale, its sometimes difficult to find something that doesn't look too orange or yellow.

I have never come across a foundation anywhere near as good, until now...

   Double Wear - Bone

Recently, Estee Lauder discontinued the shade 'Shell'
I was in complete shock as it was their lightest shade.. and the one that I have used for years.
The sales assistant in both Boots and Debenhams both pointed me towards the next shade up (bone), which I bought and hated because it was just too orange.

I freaked out a bit and for that reason I started to look else where.. and came across Maxfactor Face Infinity (liquid foundation) in shade Light Ivory.

I absolutely LOVE it.
Double wear is famous for lasting all day and all night, it is thick and once its on, it takes a good make up remover to get it off... although Face Infinity doesn't last as long, it's the closest thing I've found, and it actually has some attributes that I prefer to Double wear.

Firstly, because it isn't as thick, it goes on much nicer than Double Wear and you feel no where near as caked. Also, I have quite dry skin, especially around my nose and chin, and Double Wear never done it any justice, causing my skin to look flaky even after exfoliating and moisturising.

The shade Light Ivory is MUCH lighter than Bone, Less orange/yellow and the bottle is a tad bigger than Double Wear.

It claims to be a primer, foundation and concealer all in one and I must say the coverage is good, as it covers redness and any spots. It stays on most of the day, with a few tops ups needed around the areas you touch most (around the mouth, nose etc) but other than that, the staying power is really good.

The best part is that it is only £11.99 in boots...which A LOT cheaper than Double Wear at £27.50.

Sadly, Estee Lauder have lost a loyal customer... but finding Face Infinity has made it so much easier and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cheaper foundation with the same quality and coverage as designer brands.

My First Jeffrey Campbell Experience.

I caved...

Since the start of 2012, I have been debating on whether or not to purchase a pair of Jeffrey Campbells...

The reason I resisted is mostly because I felt guilty about spending so much on a pair of shoes (even though they are beautiful), and also because they became really popular.

Now that doesn't mean that I didn't want a pair because they were popular, it was more the fact that I didn't want to spend a fortune on a pair of shoes that everyone I knew had.

As i say, I gave in to the pressure of wanting to own the beauties, and the ones I chose are only stocked on three different websites. Right now I have an absolute obsession with anything Skull related, so the Skull Leather Lita's were a must have.

Jeffrey Campbell Skull Litas - £180

Can I firstly say, I am bias as I love nearly every pair of Jeffrey Campbell shoes ever created, but still.. THEY ARE AMAZING.

I bought them online from https://www.lazyoaf.co.uk/ which I haven't ordered from before. I ordered them on Thursday night, and they arrived at 10am(ish) on Monday morning, with the delivery only costing £3.99! Also LazyOaf really does have some gorgeous clothing and I will definitely be ordering from them again in the future.

Another positive about LazyOaf is that other sites such as Oxygen Boutique stock the Skull Lita's at at a similar price, however their delivery was much longer and more expensive. Also, they do not specify if they are in American, European or UK sizes - Major put-off!

Firstly, The packaging.

Gorgeous, really good quality box, sturdy with a lovely design, and if you're like me, the design of the packaging is a huge selling point as it adds to the whole experience, and when you spend that much on a pair of shoes, you expect an experience!

The shoes were carefully wrapped separately with extra skull studs and a note from the company which again, added to the excitement of the whole thing.

'Watch it lady, our studded shoes are spikey, please be careful'

They fit perfectly, I'm usually a UK size 6 in flats and a 7 in heels, So i opted for the 7, not wanting to risk disappointment, so I would suggest getting the bigger size if you're like me and are in between the two.

The morning I received them, I didn't take them off all day and they are extremely comfy because of the secret platform, but extremely HIGH. I'm around 5 foot 10 inches without heels, so you can imagine with a 5inch heel and a 2inch platform, I am rather huge with them on, but if you're like me, don't let that put you off.

They are made from real leather, and the skull studs feel securely attached. Leather is huge this season, along with studs, therefore they will go perfect with any winter wardrobe, evening or to spice up something causal.

I can't wait to wear them properly on a night out as they will seriously dress up even the most casual of outfits and certainly turn heads.

Overall, they are very pricey, but more than worth it for the quality of the shoe and the uniqueness of the design. I would definitely recommend spending that little bit more for a pair of these, so far I haven't been disappointed in the slightest, and I will certainly be buying more from the brand to add to my soon to be collection!

LDN, Winter Coat and MAC review.

Visited my favourite place in the world for a few days last week: London. Spent most of the time falling in love with the city, there's just something about it that makes me feel at home.

One thing I love most about London, other than the shopping, is wide variety of style, all in one place.

I did a fair bit of shopping, including finally purchasing my winter jacket

Topshop Parka - £95

I am honestly in love with this parka, it is 100% worth the money and its really on trend at the moment with the Mod/Military style. Its cosy and the fur detail in the hood and lining is definitely the selling point for me, it really makes it stand out from the other (much cheaper) parkas on the high street at the moment.

Personally I find it especially difficult to get the right winter coat, I want it to be warm, preferably long and with a hood without looking frumpy. This completely fits my specs and more.

One thing I would say is the sizing runs quite large, I know the whole point is that it is meant to be over-sized  but I'm usually a size 10 in jackets, even a 12 - and this is only an 8, and its still really roomy.

Parka again.

I spent the rest of my time, generally trying to control myself around Bond Street and Selfridges. Nearly blew my life savings (or lack of) on a beautiful pair of Louboutins and a Vivienne Westwood purse. I managed to be good though.

One thing I did buy, was some new make-up from the MAC counter in Selfridges.

MAC Matte Lipstick in MEHR - £14

I adore MAC lipsticks, and matte lipsticks in general. I was looking for a new day-to-day pink lipstick after my matte Chanel  ran out.  (can't remember the shade)

This lipstick is lovely, it looks especially nice on pale skin as it really makes the pink pigment stand out. MAC describes it as a 'Dirty Blue Pink', It reminds me a bit of Cosmo, but better because of the matte finish. It lasted all day, with a slight touch up after eating. The thing I love about it is even though its matte, its really creamy and doesn't dry out my lips like other similar ones that I've tried.

It can be worn on its own for everyday, but also with a smokey eye for night, as the colour isn't too strong.

MAC Matte Blush in MOCHA - £17

I bought this as I was looking for a blush which was pink, but not too bright and shimmery like my Clinique - Precious Posy 110. This definitely fits the bill. Its described as a plum-pink. It blends easily and it doesn't look too bright on my pale skin. Personally I love powder blushes, and the texture of this is really soft. The matte effect also means that you are able to create a strong look if you build the colour.. which gives it the appeal of best of both, subtle when you need it.

Another thing I will say about this blush, is that because it doesn't have any red tones, it works well with uneven skin tones like mine. Which I love!

first post type thing.

Well, this is scary.

completely new to blogspot/blogger and I feel like a right amateur however, without sounding too High School Musical-esque I hope this will be a start of something new and exciting.

I've wanted to do a fashion/OOTDoreveryotherday/trend blog for a while.
So here goes.

This blog will hopefully do exactly what it says on the tin. Me blogging about my favourite trends, outfits and purchases, with a few cheeky reviews. However knowing me, we may go off on a tangent, so bare with me.

I understand at the moment, its pretty basic - but as I learn, i hope it will improve (blogging style, appearance)

Firstly lets set things off with my OOTD (from yesterday.. great start)

disco pants : Republic / jacket : Topshop (few years old) / creepers : Urban Outfitters / scarf : James Pringle

Simple black outfit with added colour from my favourite tartan scarf. Comfy for college, and surprisingly warm. For me, a good leather jacket will go with anything, and its a staple piece that I can't imagine throwing away, no matter what the season. My creepers are black leather with a suede front, detailed with spikes on the front and back. Another trend which I can't get enough of - Spikes.
